Newborn

The first few weeks at home are slow and full of change.

Days blur, nights blend, and everything revolves around small moments together.

A soft rhythm of getting to know each other.

These are the early days of your family.

Life at home takes on a different shape in the newborn days.

There’s a slowing down, but also a fullness to each day as you adjust to new routines and spend most of your time simply being together.

It’s a season of learning each other again—of noticing small details, finding your footing, and settling into something entirely new.

Newborn sessions are calm, unhurried, and shaped entirely around your baby and your family.

There’s no rush, and nothing that needs to be forced or directed.

We follow your baby’s cues throughout the session—pausing for feeds, cuddles, settling, or breaks whenever they’re needed.

Most of the time is simply spent being together.

You don’t need to prepare anything beyond the basics. Everything slows down naturally once we begin.

I’ll gently guide when needed, and step back when I don’t.

In these early days, everything is small and new.

The way your baby curls into your arms.

The instinct of how you already know how to hold them.

The quiet moments between feeds, sleep, and settling.

And just as much, the way you all begin to find your rhythm together as a family.

These are the details that tell the beginning of your story.

Not polished.

Not staged.

Just real life as it unfolds.

It’s easy to think you’ll remember everything.

But this season has a way of softening in memory over time.

The photographs become how you return to it.

The tiny details you didn’t realise would change so quickly.

The feeling of holding them so close.

The beginning of your family as it is right now.

These images become part of your story in a way nothing else quite does.

Many families worry their baby won’t settle, or that things might feel unpredictable during the session.

That’s completely normal. There’s no expectation for things to run perfectly.

We simply work with whatever your baby or family members needs in the moment.

Slowly.

Calmly.

Without pressure.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I book a Newborn Sesion?

The best time to book is during your second or third trimesester, as I only take a limited number of newborn sessions each month.

We’ll simply book around your due date and then confirm the exact session date once baby arrives.

Newborn sessions are usually photographed within the first two to three weeks for those beautifully sleepy images, while also trying to beat the stage where baby acne often appears.

But if it’s something that slipped your mind while you were pregnant and your little one is already here, please still get in touch.

I do sometimes have last-minute availability.

And if your baby is a little older, that’s absolutely okay too.

Awake babies bring their own beautiful expressions, bright eyes, and personality.

Every stage has something worth remembering.

Babies don’t need to sleep for beautiful photographs.

Your session is completely baby-led, with plenty of time for feeds, cuddles, settling and breaks whenever they’re needed.

There is never any pressure to rush.

There’s so many beautiful moments we can still capture even baby wants to cluster feed or want to be held

Please don’t let that stop you.

If you’re unsure, you’re more than welcome to send me a few photos beforehand.

I really don’t need much.

A lovely natural light source, such as a large window, and an area in either the lounge or master bedroom is often all we need. You definitely don’t need to go through and clean and tidy your whole home, I’m here to make it simple.

If you’re still unsure, I also know of some beautiful studios that we can hire for an additional fee.

Absolutely.

Those first days at home are part of your family’s story, and if your furry friend is part of everyday life, they’re more than welcome to be included too.

Reach out via email and we can start talking dates! From there, to confirm your session, a $150 booking fee and contract is required to confirm your booking.  Availability is limited, so to ensure availability I do recommend booking in advance where possible.

No question is ever a silly question! Please reach out via the contact form on the contact page, or send me an email at info@rebeccaclaridge.com and I’ll happily answer more questions.
